Wake Up & Don't Make Up
For many women it can be difficult or even impossible to use traditional makeup because of allergies, vision problems, or physical disabilities. For these and millions of other women who desire to cover scars or are just plain sick of their daily cosmetics routine, permanent makeup has been their best answer. It's a type of tattoo method that can give you the look of naturally applied makeup for eyelids (shadow & liner), eyebrows and lips.

Permanent makeup is a cosmetic process that uses micro-pigmentation to enhance your facial features' colour and shape. Permanent makeup renders definition and colour to eyebrows, eyelids and lips. It can mimic the look of just-applied lipstick, lip liner, eyebrow pencil, and eyeliner. It can be relatively unnoticeable, depending upon the design, colour value and amount of pigment you choose. In other words, you can opt to enhance your natural look or go for something more dramatic.
Your esthetician is specially trained to work with you to determine the best look for your eyelashes, lips or eyebrows. Once you and the esthetician have agreed upon an appropriate look with your facial features, she will apply a numbing product before using a tattoo pen to apply pigment to achieve the desired outcome carefully. The procedure usually takes between an hour and a half to two hours.
You should expect your lips or eyebrows to be slightly swollen immediately after the procedure or your lash line to be a bit reddened for a few days. At first, the colour will be a bit strong but will fade to the desired shade as your epidermis forms a new layer. Healing should be complete within four to six weeks.
-
The Day After: When your new makeup is completed, it will appear too dark. This is temporary. You are seeing pigment in both layers of your skin (epidermis and dermis). The top layer of your skin sheds and renews itself every few days, and with this natural process, the pigment in the top layer will peel off. This initial DARK look will not last. Only the colour in the dermis (second layer of skin) will be long-lasting. If you are happy with your new permanent cosmetic colour and darkness when you leave your first session, then you will be unhappy within one to three weeks. For this reason, you need to be patient and let your skin heal.
-
The Process: Permanent makeup is a process of carefully implanting microscopic colourants into the dermis. In camouflaging scars and corrective makeup, the goal can only be achieved through repeated applications and refinements to the previous applications after healing. The goal of the first application is to “saturate” the desired area to be pigmented. Your second visit is to shape, smooth irregularities and enhance the colour of your permanent makeup.
-
Healing: For the first 2-3 days following eyebrows and eyeliner applications, you will have swelling, redness and tenderness in the area of your newly applied makeup. It is essential to pamper your new makeup and keep a protective veil of Vaseline over the affected area. This prevents scab formation and drying, which can “lift-out” the newly implanted colour. Always wear sunglasses and sunscreen when outside.
-
Touch-Up Visit: This is precisely what the name implies. Your permanent makeup will more likely than not need to be touched up within the first year following your initial two visits. The goal of this visit is to fill in any areas that need enhancement. Every person is unique, and we cannot predict how your makeup will appear. Rest assured that I will do my very best to make you happy with your permanent makeup investment. Your cooperation is vital.

The eyes can be iced with cool packs to reduce inflammation; a barrier should be used such as Vaseline to avoid keeping the eyes wet. The cool packs should not be applied for any more than twenty minutes at a time and a twenty-minute break in between.
-
Cold packs to the procedure area can be used for the first 24 hours.
-
You should massage your eyes with cotton balls and cool water for the first 24 hours to remove any blood and to avoid scabbing.
-
No makeup for 7-14 days until the eyeliner is 100% healed.
-
If any ink does collect in the corner of the eye, it can be removed by wetting a Qtip and rolling the pigment out.
-
A thin coat of Vaseline should be kept on the eyes 24 hours a day for 7-14 days.
-
Take Advil or Tylenol as necessary for discomfort.
-
If eyeliner procedure is done, a new container of mascara is a MUST to prevent infection.
-
You may shower on the day following the procedure as usual.
-
DO NOT go into the sun or swimming pool for two weeks. When you do go into the sun use an SPF 45 to protect your face.
-

Don’t worry! You are not committed for life to the look you choose this year. Duration is influenced by individual factors, including your exposure to the sun and your use of skin serums and lotions, which may eventually fade the colour. Your natural skin tones are also a factor in changing colour value over time. Very natural-looking applications will probably require a touch-up before more dramatic ones do. Generally, however, permanent makeup lasts between 18 months and three years.
