Microblading, a form of semi-permanent makeup, is the process of implanting colour pigment beneath the surface of the skin through the use of a small, sterile, disposable microblade. This process can help you to achieve the appearance of full, natural brows thereby enhancing the features of the face

The microblading will not wash off, but it will fade over time due to its semi-permanent nature. Due to this, touch-ups may be required every 1-2 years. The frequency of touch-ups necessary can depend on a number of factors including but not limited to:

  • The colour of pigment used – lighter colours fade faster.

  • Your lifestyle – how much time you spend in the sun.

  • If your body is deficient in iron, it may resorb the pigment which contains iron-oxide.

  • Pigment exposure to chemical peel treatments.

  • Please note that your final results can not be guaranteed. Each skin type is unique. Therefore, it will retain pigments differently and degrade at different rates. For example, when healed, the hair strokes tend to appear crisper on dry skin types, with oily skin types appearing more powdery. The evaluation will be made at your touch-up, and any changes necessary will be made.

About a week before your microblading appointment, hold off on waxing, threading or tweezing your eyebrows. A full day prior, you'll want to steer clear of alcohol and caffeine since they can increase skin sensitivity. Also, avoid taking ibuprofen, aspirin, fish oil, or vitamin E supplements and other blood thinners.

  • No tanning or sunbathing for 3 days before the appointment.

  • No waxing or plucking eyebrows within 2 days beforehand.

  • No chemical peels and other intense facial treatments for at least 2 to 3 weeks before the procedure.

  • Wash and style hair before the procedure, like the brows, must not come into contact with water for at least 7 days.

  • Discontinuing vitamin A (Retinol) and Botox treatments for at least 1 month beforehand.

  • Stopping taking fish oil or any other natural blood thinners, such as vitamin E, at least 1 week before the procedure.

  • Not working out the day of the appointment.

  • Days 1 to 3: Eyebrows look fuller, though your face may feel cut and tender

On the first day, your eyebrows will look very bold and full. The colour may look extremely dark, but keep in mind that it’ll eventually fade.

You’ll likely experience redness, tenderness, mild swelling, mild bleeding sensation of feeling cut or bruised. By days 2 and 3, these side effects should slowly subside.

  • Days 3 to 5: Eyebrows look very dark, then start to flake off

As the pain and tenderness go away, your brows will darken and thicken. They’ll still look very bold. By day 5, your brows will begin to scab. They will be flaky and extremely itchy. This is normal and means your skin is healing.

  • Days 5 to 8: Flaking continues, and the colour fades

You can expect more scabbing, flaking, and peeling. Resist the temptation to pick the scabs, which can reopen the wounds and disrupt the healing process. It might also remove some pigment, resulting in patchy brows. Let the scabs flake off naturally instead.

As your brows continue to flake, the dark colour will soften. But rest assured that the colour will come back.

  • Days 8 to 12: Flaking ends and colour returns

After the first week, the flaking will gradually stop. The colour will also return.

  • Days 12 to 21: Color and texture look more natural

The colour of your eyebrows should look more even and natural. The individual brow hairs will also look more defined, creating the appearance of feathery eyebrows.

  • Days 21 to 30: Skin is healed

After 1 month, your skin will be completely healed. You shouldn’t feel any pain or discomfort. Your eyebrows should also look soft and full. In another month or two, you’ll likely have a follow-up appointment.

A highly-effective topical anesthetic cream and gel are used for numbing before and during your procedure. Pain threshold levels vary from person to person and every effort is made to ensure you remain comfortable for the entirety of the procedure. Having this service performed during your menstrual cycle may increase discomfort during your procedure. If you are a frequent smoker, the topical anesthetics used during the treatment will not last as long. If you have been diagnosed with Fibromyalgia, be aware that this may affect your sensitivity tolerance to the procedure.
